-SparkFun “Time-of-Flight” Range Finder is a sensor board for the VL6180 distance sensor
-Uses precise clock to measure time it takes light to bounce back from a surface (same technology used by cellphones to detect when caller is holding phone to their ear)
-VL6180 is a 3-in-1 package with IR emitter, range sensor, and ambient light sensor
-ToF Range Finder has on-board 2.8V regulator, can shift down voltage higher than 2.8V without damaging board
-Form factor of sensor allows it to be a near drop-in replacement for most Sharp sensors
-VL6180 measures absolute range up to 10cm, tested up to 25cm
