The camera module operates on a single +3.3V power supply and requires an external oscillator to provide the clock source for the XCLK pin. By configuring the internal registers via I2C bus, the camera supplies the pixel clock (PCLK) and data back to the host along with synchronisation signals like HREF and VSYNC. The OV7670 camera module is a cost-effective CMOS colour camera module with a resolution of 0.3 mega pixels, capable of outputting images at 640×480 VGA resolution and 30 frames per second. With an onboard LDO regulator and a single 3.3V power supply, the OV7670 camera module is compatible with various platforms such as Arduino, STM32, Chipkit, ARM, DSP, and FPGA.
